Reverse Lamp Switch

The Reverse Lamp Switch is the little switch in the transmission that causes the reverse lamps on the back of the 1200 to light up when you put the gearshift lever in the R position.

Overview

4-speed switch Comparo (late vs early):

Green arrow points to reverse lamp switch

Top: 4th gear switch (some newer transmissions 8910-)
Bottom: reverse switch

Top switch (emission controlled models)

Top switch is for emission control. Timing is modified differently in top gear. Not all 56 gearboxes have a Top Switch, but different years do. E.g:
* 1972-up USA
* 1989-up JDM Top switch is same part number as reverse switch.

Custom

When fitting a 5-speed into a 1200, there may not be enough room for the switch.

Plug the hole for the exising switch:
