they're also a pleasure to drive. The precise-shifting 5-speed gear box gets power, performance and economy out of Datsun's 1.5 litre engine. But now there's something new. You don't have to sacrifice the convenience of P-R-N-D-2-1 to save M-O-N-E-Y at the pumps. Datsun 210 offers you the 3-speed automatic transmission with a fuel saving "lock-up torque converter". Simply stated, this enables 210 to combine the convenience of automatic transmission shifting at low speeds with the economical benefit of a direct-drive (hydraulic lock-up) at higher speeds. When the speed of the 210 exceeds 60 kilometres per hour (37 MPH) the system changes to direct-drive. This eliminates loss of power through the slippage of a conventional automatic and substantially increases fuel economy thus making 210 one of Canada's most gas-efficient automatics.
