The 1200 is enjoying
a renaissance in popularity. In the U.S., boyz are fixing them up as drag cars.
In other parts of the world, guys are making race cars out of them, or
simply keeping them stock as collectables.
SCCA GT5
In 1990, Jeffrey Clinton captured the GT5 national championship.
Check out Zoompics.com for images.
1200's continue to place in National Races, and, at the 1999 Mid-Ohio
Runoffs, Peter Zekert was able to secure a 4th place finish.

Brake
Upgrade
1200
front brakes are wimpy, so our man downunder, Harry Dowling,
suggests
using struts, calipers and rotors from an A10 Violet SSS.
Seems
like the 1982-83 200SX struts and calipers would be a
comparable
swap here in the U.S., but I'll have to check it out.
Competition
Suspension Manual
Good news: we finally got
a copy of this out-of-print book (published in 1975).
Bad news: most of
the components sold by Nissan Comp are now NLA.
Good news: Quickor
(an original supplier) still has the
plans for the swaybars and
will make them to order.
The rest of the Comp suspension
parts are DIY items
anyway, and can be fabricated with the plans provided.
Fiberglass Bodyparts
Showcars Bodyparts Unlimited still makes fiberglass
fenders, flares and spoilers for the 1200.
30 Years and Still Counting
Nissan South Africa is still producing the Datsun 1200!
