Get this distributor out of a E15E Nissan Pulsar. This Mitsubishi design uses the Pulsar cap, or one from a 4G15 Mitsubishi engine. Swap with a old A series dizzy, redrill the adjuster slot and plug it in. Cost is about $65 AUD for used distributor from the wreckers and a new cap.

Instructions

Take the roll pin out of an old A-series dizzy and take off the gear. Do the same for the small plastic ring on the E-series dizzy. Slide the A-series gear onto the E-series dizzy shaft and drill a new hole for the roll pin.

For the adjuster bracket slide the plate off the A-series dizzy over the E-series and mark it with a scribe on the original alloy (part of the housing) adjuster bracket. Drill out the slot and file where necessary.

Installed the new dizzy (see Distributor Installation. Use the old adjuster plate as a spacer. This is neccesary as the hole on the gear sits higher than the hole on the shaft. Thus drilling a new hole on the shaft means the gears it further down the shaft (looking at the dizzy upright). Luckily the distance between the two holes can be measured to be the same as the thickness of the spacer plate. Using the notch on the E15 dizzy housing is not an option.

You have to use a slightly longer bolt to secure it.

Wiring

  • Black/White wire to POSITIVE coil connector
  • Blue to NEGATIVE.

Use the Pulsar coil or a performance coil. Does it use a resistor type coil?

Cap and Rotor

Cap and rotor: The "standard" E15 rotor is the conventional style, same style as the A-series that is. This E15E Distributor has a round item that is fastened to the top plate where the centrifugal weights are and covers them completely. So the cap needs to be taller then the "standard" E15 item!

Part numbers are

  • CAP-BOSCH GM554
  • ROTOR-BOSCH GM555

Perhaps if you get a "standard" E15 dizzy you won't have to hunt for a cap and rotor. Either way it still works the same way!
