The Hitachi LR series of internally-regulated Alternator was first fitted to North American Datsuns for the 1978 Model year and used in Australia in the 1980s.

Overview

The LR internally-regulated alternators came on newer A-series engines, from 1978 for Nissan North America, and from the 1980s for Australia. The 620 came with the LR-135 (35 AMP) which is same size as the Datsun 1200 LT-135. The B210 came with 50 AMP LR-150, it weighs about 2-1/2 pounds more than a stock Datsun 1200 35A model and about 1 pound more than an externally regulated 50A Hitachi. Also available in 60 amp model LR160 which is physically identical to the LR150.

Only a simple wiring change is required when replacing Datsun externally-regulated alternators.

Physical Specifications

* Engine-mounting side is 80 mm (~3-3/16") in between ears, same as stock Datsun 1200
* 10.5mm diameter mount holes

* Adjuster ear 175mm (~6-7/8") across
  The stock 1200 unit is smaller at 156mm (~6-1/8") from the mount ear.
  * So you may need a late A12 adjuster and fan belt
