The hood (bonnet) latch is in two parts and operated by a cable release from inside the cabin. B210/120Y latch differs from B110/1200.

The original Datsun 1200 bonnet latch design was problematic, causing some damages for many owner s. In the USA it was the subject of a recall, but owners in all countries may wish to know about this.

Use special gauge to determine misalignment. Adjust latch if necessary.
The newer design has a different shape to the latch catch-hole. With the original design it could cause the bonnet to fly open if the latch is not completely shut.

RHD and LHD latches differ, being mirror images of each other.
Parts
The early troublesome latch was from the Datsun 510. The updated/improved 1200 latch parts (H31 type) are compatible with Datsun 620 truck. Latches for all other Sunny models (B10, B210) differ from the 1200 latch.
