Datsun L16, L18 and L20b Engine

The L16 to L18 is an uncommon swap for the Datsun1200. All though it has been done with excellent results.

The L series engines are a little heavier than an A series so handling is affected to a degree.

Aquire 1980 Stanza crossmember, lower control arms, brakes , L16, 4/5 speed box and stuts as an option.

Move x member 3/4" rearwards to allow the engine to sit as low and as rearward as possible.

Leave the sump stock.

Also brace the x-member underneath for some extra strength so it can be jacked there.

Have also redrilled x-member for the control arm mounts and plated over the area for strength. This is not needed but can be a useful time to gain some camber

Engine mounting brakets on the engine were also modified to be narrower and to allow it to sit lower than it normally would in the Stanza.

Care has to be taken with clearance to the drag link which raises as the wheels are turned. Also had to space the sway bar down about 1/2" to clear the oil pump.

The x-member to chassis mounts will have to be cut off and new ones fabricated.
