L, Z, KA and SR all use the same crossmember mount points. For swapping any of these engines into a 1200, you can use the stock B110 L-series crossmember or an A-series crossmember suitably modified. Or, use the unmodified A-series crossmember with custom engine-side brackets.

L-series Horns

Stock 1200 crossmember with the horns (uprights) removed and Stanza L-series horns fitted. The Stanza horns fit right on. Use a drill for spotwelds and a grinder to remove the horns.

Here is a 1200 crossmember, horns removed and low profile horns fabricated:

Custom Crossmember

Cut the stock 1200 crossmember uprights, weld flat plates at an engle to it. Drill a hole in each plate and slot them for bolting in the engine mount isolators (rubbers).

You can modify the 1200 crossmember: Have the mounts trimmed to an angle simular to that of a 200B, then cut the 200B mounts in 1/2 to finish the job and locate the motor lower and improve the mounting angles. A 910 Bluebird L20B sump fits almost perfect, reshape it with a hammer a little just so it will clear the 1200 crossmember, maybe 1/2cm.

If using other sumps, you may need to do the following:

  • Remove notch from Datsun 1200 xmember
  • Reshape sump to clear the drag link

NOTE: These do not fit a 1200:
* Stanza/510 A10 crossmember
* 120Y B210 crossmember
* 510 crossmember

Motor Mount Isolators

The engine mount Brackets and rubber Isolators you use depends on which crossmember you use.

SR20 and KA24E/KA24DE use this style rubber isolator. Buy at RockAuto.com:

These look the same as 510 isolators, but are likely a harder rubber.
