1972 Japan, 1978 Australia and 1973 USA Datsun 1200s used a speedometer switch to activate various systems.

Japan Speed Buzzer
Starting in 1972, all JDM cars came with speed switch-activated buzzer (Kinkon Chime) for warning of excess velocity.
POST Sunnydaze: JDM speedo cluster has a buzzer that sounds as you pass a nominal 105km/h! That was at an actual 98km/h. The noise is somewhere between cute and annoying

速度警告音ᵂ: Speed warning sound (KOKOKUKO) is a sound emitted when the speed of a vehicle or the like reaches a certain level or more. The speed warning regulation was ended in 1986, due to the dangers of sleep induction caused by repetitive warning sound.
In the Japan car when the vehicle speed is about 105km/h in the passenger car, and more than about 85km/h in the light vehicle, the alarm sound such as the mechanical chime and the buzzer was ringing for attention to the driver.
JDM 1972 speedometer has special switch/amplifier/buzzer, to warn when speeding. The circuit board on the back of the cluster is modified:
* Center turn signal connector is moved * Small Box is mounted in center * Clock/tach IGN feed circuit has and additional tap
This same cluster housing appears to be used by USA Datsun 620 pickup.
Box: * Yellow wire: 12V IGN * Black wire: Goes into cluster housing

Australia Ute Amplifier Speed Switch
1978-1985 Australian utes used the amplifier for B120 ute Throttle Opener Assembly (see Emission Controls).
The speed detecting switch is part of the speedometer assembly and is installed in the speedometer. The amplifier prevents damage to the speed detecting switch which actuate the throttle opener only when the car speed is above 10km/h. Pub No. SM6E-EMC0A0, Page EC-11
