The Timing Cover is the aluminum part on the front of the engine that covers the Timing Chain. It also has a timing mark on the cover and houses the crankshaft pulley seal.

Overview
Depending on the country, 1971 or 1973 saw newer timing covers which differ from earlier covers.
Water pump bolts to the timing cover. And the cover bolts to the front of the block, and passes water through two ports (the square hole, and the round hole).
Interchange
There are only two A-series covers in common use:
- to June 1970, with single timing mark (pulley has multiple marks)
- 13035-18000
- from June 1970, with multiple timing marks (pulley has single mark)
- 13035-H1000 (or from second source: 13035-H1010)

Race engines sometimes use a mechanical tachometer drive off the camshaft, with the Timing Cover modified to suit.
