The Reverse Lamp Switch is the little switch in the transmission that causes the reverse lamps on the back of the 1200 to light up when you put the gearshift lever in the R position. Reverse Switch is located on the shifter extension of tail housing very near the top of the housing.

Solution 1: Plug the hole for the exising switch. Use Nissan 32108-18100 PLUG, or a custom made plug like this:

Solution 4: Using a hole saw, cut a hole right beside it in the tunnel so it has some room to fit and to move. then feed wires to it through there. Cover the hole with a flexible boot.

Automatic

In automatic-transmission 1200s, the backup lamp switch is in the Automatic Shifter, not in the gearbox.

Wiring

Reverse Lamp is powered off the 10A IGN Fuse. It is grounded at the back combination tail lamp bolt.

Swap Notes

The location of the Reverse Switch can differ between all the different transmission. It is generally a problem when fitting any 60-series or 63-series gearbox in to the small 1200 manual tunnel. The reverse-light switch is right where the Datsun 1200 chassis x-member mount is.
