Synchros
4-speed and 5-speed synchronizers are very different. 4-speed uses synchro baulk rings. 5-speed has baulk nubs on the hub itself.

Case
The case is the front part of the transmission (the "bell housing"). The case for 4-speed and 5-speed looks the same, but has different part numbers. Note that different years and different markets added changes to the case.
