Hitachiᵂ (日立), having interconnected business ties to Nissan (日産), is one of the companies in the original Nissan keiretsu (系列). For the Datsun 1200, Hitachi was the one of the primary OEM component suppliers. Hitachi supplied carburetors and engine electrical units, among other components. Mitsubishi was the second source for the engine electrical components (alternator, distributor and starter).
