Andrew Denniss' 1972 Datsun 1200 Coupe was one of the early documented CA18DET builds -- and one of the finest.

2002 DATA:

  • Induction: 400HP GT25 Turbo, Microtech M8 Aftermarket ECU, Turbosmart boost controller, Custom front mount intercooler
  • Head: Worked/ported DOHC 16-valve
  • Transmission: Skyline stumpy 5 speed
  • Differential: Mitsubishi Scorpion : 4.6 for racing and 3.3 for speed events
  • Brakes: Front 10" vented with hilux 4spot calipers, Rear 9" solid with standard Mitsubishi calipers
  • Exhaust: Custom made exhaust manifold, Single 3" resonator into a 3" S type muffler then reduced into 2.5" mandrel bends over the diff to a 3" dump pipe
  • Suspension: Front, 2.5" lowered 275lbs, 3" King Springs on imported stanza struts with adjustable height platforms running custom inserts. Standard swaybar, strut brace. Rear, reverse eye springs 3" lowered with Pedders sports gas shocks.
  • Additional Info: The car has ran a 12.0@113mph, and since then the car has seen a massive increase of horsepower, in fact an estimate of close to 300 horses!

Chassis Strengthening

It was showing signs of body stress with the alloy 6 point cage just holding it together.
Now with the steel cage welded in I feel it should cope a bit better with the punishment of racing
