For 1972, the 1200 underwent a minor change. A new dash was fitted to all 1972 Sedan/Van/Coupe.

Overview
Discuss or comment: POST Facelift 1200 Dash in Main Forum
For additional details of the 1972 redesign for the Japan market, see Facelift.
* podded instrument facia * concave cluster lid (wood grain bottom half) * dash pad extends slightly towards driver to shade the instruments * curved glove box door with '||| Sunny |||' mark
New dash features:
* lower-half wood grain finish * podded instrument panel facia * anti-glare covers for the speedometer, tachometer and Cluster Gauge
Wood grain on lower half of the new dash (all trims, even STD)
This JDM brochure shows the new dash:
This photo has an altered dash (top) -- it shows an early (flat) glovebox lid with the late facelift gauges. It is somewhat common for dashes to have been mixed-and-matched over the last 4 decades.
New podded instrument panels were used starting January 1972 on regular Datsun 1200 B110, as well as with Sunny Excellent 1400 (PB110), as can be seen here:
B110 1972 25010-H3100 LID ASS'Y-cluster STD,DX 25010-H3300 LID ASS'Y-cluster GL,GX
PB110 1972 25010-H3100 LID ASS'Y-cluster (gray metallic) DX 25010-H3300 LID ASS'Y-cluster (gold metallic) GL,GX
Podded Instruments
Extended-lip dash shades the instruments
Single Hump vs Double Hump
The PB110 (1400) and the B110 (1200) appear to use the same dashes. In some photos they appear different, because the "hump" goes towards the driver (it does not rise above above the flat plane of the dash) -- so it depends on the angle of the camera.
- Some 1972 dash pads appear to have a single "hump" along the top edge shading the instrument cluster
- Others appear to have an additional "hump" over the glovebox door for a more symmetrical look
From this angle this 1200 dash looks like a double-hump
But ... from this angle looks like a single-hump (same car in both photos)
Components
Instrument Panel
Of the Instrument Panel, only the Dash Pad and Glovebox Lid differ from original B110 versions. The panel itself (metal frame) is the same.
PAD ASS'Y-instrument 68910-H1000 1970-1971 68910-H3100 1972
LID ASS'Y-glove box 68920-H1000 1970-1971 68920-H3100 1972
The glove box itself and all the hardware including hinge is the same, only the Lid differs.
68920-H3100 LID ASS'Y-glove box
Meter
Virtually all the parts of the meter - from the cluster lid to individual gauges and small parts - differ from the original B110 meter parts.
- gauges have extended mounting tabs
- Gauge glass is replaced with anti-glare plastic cone
- Gauge font is updated
In other respects the gauges are pretty much the same as 1970-1971 versions.
