Check it to make sure there is no Vacuum Leaks.

Push the lever, then put your finger on the pipe. It should stay. Replace (or plug hose) if it the lever instantly pops back.

Adjust your 4-cylinder points to 49-55 degrees

Older style (analog) Dwell-Tachometer

On this type of scale with only 8- and 6-cylinder, 4-cylinder reading is DOUBLE 8-cylinder scale.
