Bump Stops a.k.a. Bound Bumpers limit the suspension travel. When you go over a large bump and the wheel rises up, it will hit the rubber bump stop. Stopping against rubber is better than stopping against metal. When lowering the vehicle, the Bump Stops can be cut to shorter length to provide more travel at the expense of some harshness.
