The splash pan seals the underneath of the chassis at the front of the car, and somewhat prevents stones and road grime from coming up onto the engine. It also aids in cooling of the engine by way of creating a depression behind the radiator. Nissan calls it the Front Under Cover or Splash Shield Board. A.k.a. stone guard, engine guard, underguard cover, scatter guard, or dust pan.
