Datsun 1200 uses a single-outlet cast-iron exhaust manifold. It has a two-bolt flange to the Exhaust Piping. They can be replaced with tubular headers.

Overview
The standard Datsun 1200 exhaust manifold features a Heat Riser to deflect hot exhaust towards the bottom of the intake manifold. Since it bolts to the intake, it requires a matching Intake Manifold.

GX exmani for Datsun 1200 is a divorced type -- not connected to the intake manifold
Divorced type is used with a water-heated Intake Manifold.
Heating the intake plenum is important for part-throttle performance/driveability and fuel-economy. For more information, see Heat Riser.
Gasket
Dual-outlet exhaust manifolds (Twin Carb engines + A15E) used a flat packing (gasket).
A12 made from 1990- used a different manifold that used a flat packing (A12 with 3-bolt flange). See #95W Late 1200.
For all other single-outlet exhaust manifolds, there is no packing (gasket) between exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe. Instead the pipe has a flaring that seals it.
If the original exhaust pipe is not available, an aftermarket donut gasket can be fitted to plain 1.5 inch exhaust pipe. This is a donut seal (compression type) such as used by MGs and Austins and 1960s American cars. It is made of an asbestos-like material.
Alternatively, an exhaust shop can weld a flange to the exhaust pipe and a flat gasket can be used.
Single Outlet
Early A12s used a two-bolt exhaust pipe flange. A14/A15 and late A12 have three-bolt exhaust pipe flange.

B110 manifold has heat riser for bottom of intake manifold.

Heat Riser flap was used starting in mid-1967. B10 manifold look like the 1200 manifold, but the heat riser area is smooth, without the two vertical standups of the 1200 exmani.

A12GX Engine used a dual-outlet manifold that is not connected to the twin-carb intake manifold (has no heat riser).

NOTES:
- Nissan Cherry A12T exhaust manifold is similar, but it is single outlet
- The Datsun 1000 Coupe exhaust manifold is similar with single outlet.
Only the GX has the full-tilt exhaust system. However, in 1980 this was bested by the A15E exhaust.
Compared to Extractors
Word has it that the GX exmaniᴵ works as good as common extractors (headers), though not as good as the best tuned-length extractors. The factory 1200/B110 Competition Tune-up manual recommends the GX manifold for Rally competition use, instead of extractors.
NOTE: Many Datsun 1200 extractors may not clear the GX inlet manifold.
