Datsun 1200 came in several trim levels from basic to sporty and on to luxury. Trim packages names vary by country, but include basic Standard (STD), better Semi-Deluxe (Semi-DX), Deluxe (DX) luxury GL (Grand Luxury) and sporty GX (Grand Luxury Twin-Carb).
Japan-market trim levels for B110 (1200) and PB110 (1400)
Contents |
Standard
STD models were your poverty pack model. Like other stripper models it was the lowest cost.
- Dog dish Hubcaps instead of full wheel covers
This brochure shows that Coupes only came in the higher trim levels. There was no STD coupe.
Deluxe
DX trim is your basic model. Deluxe in the car industry usually means a basic model, not a luxury model, and the 1200 is no exception.
GL
Grand Luxury has better seats, with carpet as standard equipment.
GX
Grand Luxury twin carb (GX) was the top of the line for Datsun 1200. All the options for GL trim were standard fitment on the GX. Both 4-door sedan and Coupe were offered in GX Trim. Automatic or 4-speed was offered.
- Max Speed: 160km/h
- 0-400m: 16.7 sec
- Bullet Mirrors
- Unique Hubcaps
- DX-style but with dark gray centers instead of light gray
- Steering wheel
- A12 GX Engine 83PS with Twin Hitachi sidedrafts
- Unique Badges
- Seats
- Black-out Tail Panel
- Coupe has black-out grille center rib (1971, 1972 only?)
GX-5
The GX-5 was a new trim for 1972. It was a GX with a direct-fifth 5-speed.
- Grille Badge
- Boot badge 'GX 5-Speed'
- F5W56 transmission
